Sad Days In Country Music

This week we lost two of the icons in country music; Tom T. Hall and Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. Tom was 85 and Don was 84. Phil Everly passed away seven years ago.
Tom, and the duo of Don and Phil, certainly left their mark on the world of American country music.

Tom T. painted some real pictures with words. My favorite was the song about the 40 miners...

"Passed some hound dogs and some dominecker chickens. Temporary looking houses with their lean and bashful kids. Every hundred yards a sign proclaimed that Christ was coming soon. And I though oh man he'd sure be disappointed if He did."

His wife was born in England, and curiously was a bluegrass songwriter named "Dixie", Go figure.
