Some may remember about a year and a bit ago, the Canadian Lancaster's visit to the UK. I can't find the original thread that was created, that so many of you contributed to.
Pat had an idea to show this DVD to the local population in our village hall, to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Well as you may or may not know the title of this excellent DVD is called, "Reunion of Giants", which covered the visit here, and it's brilliant to say the least
So over the last few weeks Pat hasn't stopped in her goal to raise as much money as she could to give it all to people who deserve it more than some.
So she made up all the tickets, and did all the leaflets, went round all the shops, to get donations for the raffle tickets, and yesterday afternoon Pat and I went to our local village hall and started to set up all the equipment needed to show the DVD, she even contacted to producers in Canada to gain permission to show this DVD. All set up and then we went back in the evening, opened the doors and hopped for the best. We were hopping for about 30 + people to turn up, and we would have been happy with that, well we were gob smacked when close to 100+ people turned up. We asked for £3.50 a ticket and a £1 a strip for the raffle, which really did have some fantastic donations from the local shops.
The DVD was shown, and at the end everyone clapped but the biggest applause was for Pat and all her efforts.
People were coming up to me and saying that it was a great evening, which was further enhanced by free tea and biscuits at the halfway mark in the DVD, and some even cried.
So how much then did we raise, well after the cost of hiring the hall, Pat handed over to the RBL £300.00. She was well chuffed, all her efforts had paid off.
It was great evening, but like a dickhead I forgot my camera.
