My America 2012 occasionally refuses to start. Going through the system and no faults, in frustration I eventually sprayed wd40 at the electrical part of the sidestand and vroom ....back to work.

Over the past 8 years and 50,000 miles I've occasionaly had to spray the elec contact on the side stand, leave it for 10 minutes and it works. Hope that helps someone.

Has anyone had the same problem or is it just mine?

Haven’t had the problem yet Moss, but have heard of others with the same problem. I’ll keep that in mind, may even try some preventative maintenance.

I have had the same problem on my Yamaha TRX 850 which sits in the garage during winter. Those side stand switches are sticky little buggers.

Thank you Moss for the reminder. No problems with my 2014 America yet knock on . Still don't like pulling in the clutch to start in neutral either. My 1998 BMW has the side stand switch thing too. But no problems for 25 yrs there. If and when they go time for a rewiring thread.
