Hi all,
I just sold my BMW r1200c and am itching for something different...more upright seat, good for long distance and commuting in traffic. The V-strom was in my sights until I saw the Tiger 800. I'm thinking about a test ride at my local dealer (Mountain View, CA) to see how it feels. If anyone has some words of wisdom, please do share.
Thanks,
-Mark

Welcome to TT from Southeast Texas. A word of wisdom on the Tiger, don't test ride one unless you are ready to buy one. One ride and you will be hooked.

Hi. Welcome to the forum.

It's very easy to ride (too easy?). It's quite light, very comfortable (I'm average height), has next to no vibration so there's no hand tingling, great gearbox, needs a tilt adjustable screen & centrestand IMO and has usable power throughout the rev range. The riding position, the stock tyres, suspension & brakes are all pretty good. There's very little to dislike IMO.

Mark, welcome to the forum from the opposite coast. I don't think you can go wrong with the Tiger 800. My 800XC has become my main ride. As Hemibee said, don't test ride it unless you are prepared to buy it! :y2: DaveB's wrap up is spot on. Do get the center stand and the auxiliary lights. The headlights are really good; but those auxiliary lights really light up the side of the road and, in the daytime, make you more visible to the cagers.
