After losing my mate last week (aged 51), today was just what I needed.
Me and Mrs Gump set of early this morning with the dogs, and walked a 8 mile circuit following the River Kent and the old Lancaster Canal.
It was a bit cold when we set off, -3C, but it was a great morning.
Here's a few pics,
River Kent.
Me and the better half on the old canal bank
As we walked along we came across a ewe that had just given birth to 3 lambs, here she is busy cleaning them up.
We continued on along the old Lancaster Canal. It was filled in many years ago, and in places all that remain are the old packhorse bridges.
We passed Sizergh castle,
and returned through Levens Park.
Here's a few pics of the deer in the park.
We then went home for some breakfast, then I got the bonnie out and went up to Ingleton to meet Ventura and his mate Dave.
We went up to Hawes, stopped for a coffee, then headed off towards Kirby Stephen.
The bikes at Pendragon Castle.
Pendragon Castle
Wild Boar Fell
Mallerstang Edge
Mallerstang Common.
We went from Kirby Stephen to Shap, stopped for Ham, eggs, and chips, before returning to my place for a brew.
An excellent Sunday!
