Agree, they get a bad press.
The bad pit bulls usually have bad owners.
When my kids were very small we had a Bull Terrier and she was a great dog, not very smart but loving. We also had a Bull Mastiff at the same time.
We require plenty of seating in our house.
But over the last couple of years we have become a bit harder on our dogs and they have one dedicated seat, they don't get onto ours.
Lucky dogs.
I never did like the Pit Bull much but the Bull Mastiff are very cool. I used to have the Boerboel but when my Max died I just could not bring myself to getting another dog

I can completely understand where you are coming from Dave, but remember,another dog can bring you another round of happiness.
You just have to remember that as humans,we will always outlive our pets,(unless it is a turtle or parrot etc) its just something we have to be aware of and accept when we get one.
What a great story - pit bulls are much maligned but I think it's the owner and how they raise the dog who should be maligned.
Otherwise - I see you really live the words "My pets live here, this is their home" Good on you - my silly labrador still tries to sit on my lap! Now he sits with his bum on a chair and feet on the floor - thinks he's a human!

You're right - he IS better than humans. He's such a clown though. If anyone in our house needs to be on 'slow down' medication, it's our Polo boy - total nutter!

Harry you right and it's been years since Max passed but I just cannot get around it
Dave, I have not gotten another dog since I lost Dakota. And I don't plan to any time soon.
This is a great story of course, but it's very rare.
In today's local newspaper there is a story about 3 pit bulls almost killing a 91 year old lady.
Only last Month, a man and woman just brought their newborn baby home in a baby carrier. The man went to put the car i the garage and the woman went to the bathroom. While the baby was alone for just a couple of minutes, their dog killed the baby.

There have been numerous small dogs doing the same but it appears pits get more air time.
