Well we all know that the internet can be a bad place at times so most people install some type on Internet Security Software. What do you have installed and what are the main features that make you use that software.

For years I have been running Kaspersky and it has always worked well for my needs. Unfortunately in the last release they watered down the anti spam function and this was a huge disappointment for myself as I really hate spam mail. So I have now been looking around at what is available but still have a few month on my Kaspersky license, so I will only change once that is due.

As far as the spam goes I found Spam Bully – Email spam filter for Outlook and Outlook Express, Windows Mail in Vista and Windows Live Mail | purchase and installed it using the free 14 days trial option. So far I am really impressed with it and think I will just purchase it after 14 days.

I use Spam Bully and am well satisfied with it. A lot of email clients have built in spam filters.

For online security, I have a hardware firewall built in to my modem. It includes a stealth mode which mean my computer cannot be seen by a hacker. GRC's, Gibson Research Corporation, Leak Test shows that my computer is invisible to trolling hackers.

I also use a software firewall, Zone Alarm (free). I also use Avast Antivirus (free) which does a good job of monitoring my email for malicious links and spyware.

I never go to bad sites like porn sites, hacker sites, etc. I never click on links in emails unless I know and trust the sender.Sometimes hackers can spoof emails from those I know. I can spot those spoofed emails by the syntax and wording. Avast usually picks these up and quarantines them.

I try to avoid using Google or Bing search engines and instead use duck duck go because of privacy issues.

I get those spoof emails from names I know but I see through them right away.

One I get fairly often is from our club president asking for the club banking information. I'm the treasurer and only me has that info and pays all the bills.

I have the info written down and in my safe in case I can't conduct business or something suddenly happens to me.

I frequently alert club members to be careful.

For my Mac, I use Sophos Antivirus. For my church's music computer, for which I am responsible, we are using Comodo Antivirus. I also use the Brave, and Vivaldi browsers, which are Chrome-based and have the security tightened up.

Spambully looks good for Outlook, and some free email services. I recently changed to icloud.com (since I'm a Mac user) and I'm still getting used to it. I don't see as much spam now that I'm not using Yahoo.com, and, so far, I haven't received any at icloud.com.

Apple are really expensive our side so you don't see many PC users but the phones are common. I tried the iPhone and iPad but found at the time the apps were not so plentiful for what I needed.
