Bike has 3500 miles on it and I noticed some small oil spots on the floor and dripping from the center of the bottom of engine. I have owned 3 Americans in the last 10 years and never had a leak. Back in the 60's and 70's they used to leak. What should I look for anyone else have this problem?

Don't know where the oil filter is on the America, but would check that and the drain plug first for leaking and correct tightness. Other than that, have to wipe it off, run it a bit and see if you can trace the leak.

I've had 3 Americas and a Speedmaster, none of which had leaks. In fact, none of my 8 modern Triumphs leaked. I think Hinckley has fixed Meriden's problem there.
Near the center of the engine reside the filter and drain plug. I suggest removing both, check the sealing gaskets; copper on drainplug and (only one) flat rubber gasket on filter. Sometimes during an oil change the filter's gasket may stick on the engine, and two may prevent proper seating.

I've noticed a small oil leak on my primary where the clutch lever goes in. I think the rubber seal may have gone bad. Anyone with a suggestion (other than pulling the primary and replacing the seal).

I had the same issue, I went for a ride and got the bike warm, came back and just wiggled the rod up and down a few times and it hasn't given me an issue again. Im not saying this is a permafix, but i believe that when i did that the oil and the heat lubed the seal enough to re-seat.

Thanks! Will certainly try it!
