Yes, that is correct. The service intervals are in 6000 mile increments. Because I used to ride in dusty, dandy conditions, I changed my own oil and filter at 3000 miles - and checked or cleaned the air filter. I have a Uni air filter. I now change my oil and filter at 4000 mile intervals. If you change your own oil, be sure to use a synthetic motorcycle specific oil with a JASO MA rating. The JASO is the most important. You do not have to use the overpriced Triumph branded oil. I caution against using automobile motor oils. Automotive oils contain friction reducers than can cause wet clutches in motorcycles to slip.
