Prayers and heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of those killed by these senseless acts of murder. I understand an RCMP officer is among the victims.

"A gunman disguised as a police officer shot people in their homes and set fires in a rampage across the Canadian province of Nova Scotia that killed 16 people, the deadliest such attack in the country's history. Officials said Sunday the suspected shooter was also dead.

A police officer was among the dead. Several bodies were found inside and outside a home in the small, rural town of Portapique, about 60 miles north of Halifax. Overnight, police began advising residents of the town -- already on lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic -- to lock their doors and stay in their basements. Several homes in the area were set on fire as well."

So shocking and so tragic! Things like that don't happen here - but then it happens FACE
17 confirmed dead including the female RCMP police officer. Some were targeted, but many were just random victims as he fled.
This is a small province and I know all the crime scene areas like it's my big back yard.
Where the shooter was taken down by the SWAT team is a place we stop every year for a rest and gas on some of our club runs.
It's a modern truck stop area with gas stations, eateries, shopping and always teaming with people. Fortunately, it was closed due to the virus situation.
They cornered him there and no mercy was shown. The killing spree was going to end there and they made sure it did.
The whole thing is so foreign to us and it's almost beyond words FACE

They did just right!! Saved the taxpayers a bunch of money! Do you know what his motive was?

They may never know the motive, but it's still early in the investigation so it's possible some motive may be clear later.
From where the shooting started to where it ended covers a huge geographical area as he fled, killing along the way.
There are multiple crime scenes and this is going to take some time to sort out.
The whole province is in a state of shock - as if the virus situation wasn't bad enough - this never happens here - but it did.

The shooter lived here in the city, had a successful business, was a kind and generous neighbour with no inkling of mental illness or anti-social leanings.
The whole thing is beyond insane FACE

This tragedy just keeps getting worse, but we knew there were more victims.
I think the RCMP are going to face some tough questions why there wasn't a provincial alert instead of just using Twitter.
I don't have Twitter and I don't know of any of my friends or relatives who do. A provincial alert would hit phones, radio and TV.

Last evening my neighbourhood held a candle lit vigil in the street at 8:30.
One neighbour is a violinist with the symphony orchestra and she played Amazing Grace beautifully. It was all very nice and touching as we stood in a wide circle.

Beautiful. :y25:

The outrage is building why there was no general alert instead of just on Twitter.
I knew nothing about it until the next morning. By then the search/chase had been going on for 7-8 hours.

As if the human race couldn't get any lower, there are scammers now using the shooting to solicit money in the name of the victims FACE
The police have posted warnings to be careful and don't fall for anything until you check it out 100%.

Do they know anything more on why he did it.
No, and I think it may be a long time before any motive is uncovered - if at all.
So much anger, outrage and sorrow here.
This province is famous for its friendly people, scenery, sea food, salt water beaches - now we're saddled with the worst mass shooting in Canadian history FACE

I am so sorry for you and your fellow citizens. We went through that with the terrorist nightclub shooting in Orlando.

There are some real vermin in the human race.
