At what stage of your life do you realise that you just can't keep up with gadgets? I'm not that old but somehow I got left behind in the dark ages when it comes to understanding just what the hell things are. For instance:
What is blue ray? It is advertised on TV but wtf is it?
You can get a micro sd chip for your cell phone? Huh?
I still don't know the difference between an ipod and a MP3 player.
I have got these really cool head phones that go with my cell phone - do you think I can understand how to get my "blueteeth" to work???
If you order more than 1 mouse for your computer, do you order mice or mouses?
What happened to me? I had the first cell phone around and have always had one but aren't they just for making and receiving phone calls? Whats with all the stuff that comes with the package?
How do you keep earphones in your ears? You see people running around with earphones but when I try it they fall out!
How do kids SMS so fast? It takes me ages just to locate the letter on the keypad.
Old age - must be.

I can identify with that. I have enough trouble keeping up with this computer and things as they evolve.
I don't have any of the electronic gadgets that all the kids have these days. I really don't have any use for them.
Anyway, who needs "blueteeth"?
I do have a cell phone that is never on and I use maybe once a month. Most of the time it sits home when I go out.
I guess if you're content to spend your life in front of a TV or computer then those things are OK, but I have better things to do with my time.
Sage words from an old fart :ya2:

Well stated, Lioness. I resemble that!!!

I don't have an Ipod or an MP3 player and wouldn't use them if I did. I do know what Blue Ray is, but I'll wait for the next round of recording media to come from UFO reverse engineering. I have already seen 78s, 45s, 33s, reel-to-reel, 8 tracks, cassettes, dolby cassettes, video discs, BetaMax, VCRs, CDs and DVDs. I'm waiting for the mini-SD card that has enough capacity for every book, musical recording, movie, video, TV show, etc. ever made or ever will be made in the next 10,000 years; I figure its about 3 months away. I'm using 8 Gig USB sticks for data now.

My Motorola RAZR has bluetooth (wireless) capability and I even bought one of those goofy looking wireless headsets a couple of years ago and tried it out - not my style. However, a law has been proposed in my state to make it a felony to use any handheld electronic device while driving; I may have to go wireless to answer the cell phone.

The big thing that I am really not into is texting messages. Duh, it sort of makes sense for kids at school who want to hide the fact that they are communicating from the teachers, but for anyone else it seems dumb. I can talk faster than I can type on a telephone.

Back to the Ipods. If you want to know how old you are, try naming any song or artist in the top 100 pop chart. At one time I knew them all, now zero. Its gotten so bad that when the wife watches Wheel of Fortune (wheel of torture is what I call it) they are constantly asking for proper names of people I have never heard of, but seem to be popular with young people.

What is that? Does it have something to do with pregnancy? I have 3 teenage daughters. Every few months we are astounded by the news of one or the other of their friends turning up pregnant.

I'm with you Gary but you still haven't answered my question - what is blue ray and mini sd card?

We're not allowed to use cells whist driving either. If the phone rings I check out the area to see if there are cops around, if not I'll answer otherwise the phone can ring. Do you know why? Because I can't get my damned bluetooth to work!!!!!!

Gee Lioness and there I was thinking you're quite a hip chick (just those two words are probably enough to date me :ya2:). BluRay is a new technology fo high capacity discs (size of a dvd) that can store up 50 gigabytes of info enough to store all the info neede for a high definition movie. Its called bu ray becuase it uses a blue laser rather than a red.

A mini SD card fits into your cellphone and can be used for storage of music, pictures any other data as well as software like my phone that has GPS facility so the Garmin software is on the mini SD.

I use my blueteeth to connect to my Garmin GPS in my car and use it as a hands-free phone. There is use for technology you see! :y18:

That's because you shouldn't leave them in a glass next to the bed when you go to sleep! :-x

Yeah, I wanna meet the bloke who was the mould for earphones. Must look like a right plonker. I don't know of anyone who finds them comfortable and can get them to stay in.

Perhaps it was Prince Charlie? :D
