Noon Help With Gas Cap

Hello all, new to this forum trying to find help. I am following the rider manual but cannot unlock my gas cap.

I turn the key clockwise. Take key out. Twist gas cap counter clockwise but it just keeps spinning. I have also tried leaving the key in. I have a triumph scrambler 1200 xe.

Any advice on the simple thing I’m missing would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried pushing in while turning, or tried to leave key in while turning?

On my Speedmaster I need to leave the key in to open the gas cap.

Have tried both to no avail. Two motorcycle buds of mine have also tried. So either I just have dumb friends (myself included) or something is up.

Local dealership, non triumph dealer, couldn’t figure it out. Gotta wait until Tuesday when my dealership is open to take it there.

Is there any electronics involved? Have you checked to see if any YouTube’s show how to take one off?

You turn the gas cap key counter-clockwise to lock it in so you can unscrew it. If that isn't locking it up so it can be unscrewed then it must be broken.
