MotoGP racer, Nicky Hayden, was training near his home in Kentucky on 27 December, crashed, breaking his scapula and two ribs.

I don't follow MotorGP so I don't know who he is but it is a bummer anyway
That's not so unusual. I have several biker friends who pay no attention to MotoGP racing.
I'm not a fanatical fan, but I try to catch the races when I can. What some of those guys do with motorcycles at those speeds boggles the mind.
FYI, Hayden is an American racer on the world MotoGP circuit with Valentio Rossi and all the others.
The Kentucky Kid......man thats gotta hurt. But as tough as he is he will be up and riding in a week, if not all ready.
Yep, Nicky got hurt during training on a dirt bike, then Dovi did the same thing a couple of days later - on a dirt bike too.
Dammit! It's the off season - stick to the gym and cycling guys!
Nicky's getting an op today or tomorrow I think - hope he's fit for the Sepang test.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope he mends quickly. That has got to HURT!

When I watch the races and see some of the horrific crashes with the rider flying through the air, my heart nearly comes up in my throat.
When they get up and walk away, I am not only delighted, but sometimes amazed that they can take such a fall and still walk away.
As we saw last year, not everyone walks away.
It certainly is a dangerous business, but thrilling to watch.

Rocky, I don't think at our ages, we could take that punishment and walk away. 
Certainly not at those speeds, but I did walk away (with a busted wing) three years ago after crashing into a concrete drainage ditch.Rocky, I don't think at our ages, we could take that punishment and walk away.
Granted, I was only going maybe 60 kph (36 mph) when I went off the road, but hitting the concrete really shook me up.
Those drainage ditches are constructed in certain drain-off areas along the roads so the monsoon rains don't wash away the precious farming soil.

For my age I came out of that pretty darn well!!Day-to-day I don't even know I ever had an injury.
