Good evening
I’m an old biker but new regarding classic bikes!
Been in cross and road racing since I’m five now I’m 55 so a bit of veteran or maybe I’m a classic!

Cheers from Canary Islands
Jan

Welcome to TT from Eastern Canada as well.
Must be a great place to live and ride.
Thank you all
Weather and temperature is good and we have many tricky mountain roads, But finally you’re always running around same place, therefore I use to take the ferry to Spanish mainland for small holidays, I have also a bike at friends house in northern Italy close to the alps, the meaning was bringing it over here but I haven’t found the time, Hopefully I take that ride this summer

Are you anywhere near the volcano erupting recently?
Definitely YES!
What you can see in the pics what’s left of my dads hose and the pool where I use to play, I plant together with my dad the burning palm threes 40 years ago as a boy!
I have to say this have been some very saad days, what I really feel pity for is the local people, they are the most sweet and good people I ever known, People there is is very proud of their island a most of them has beautiful gardens with fruits and vegetales.
When a volcano comes it’s not like a fire or a hurricane take your hose, In case of a volcano you can’t build up nothing like this in 1000years again..

I was hoping y’all were not in the area. Stay safe.

Is your home near your dad’s and in the path of the lava flow? Definitely not much left after a lava flow. How much of the island is affected by the lava?
I live at another island 40min flight away from the island affected by the volcano,

Just a small part are affected at the moment but around 450 houses have disappeared

How did y’all end up on La Palma? Is your dad involved with the telescope observatories?
The volcano still running strong.
My parents didn’t have nothing to do with the Scandi observatory, my dad was antique dealer (Both still alive, both over 90 years old).
My parents use to travel to the Canary islands in the early sixties spending holidays at Gran Canaia, until they found La Palma and just loved it, where they bought a avocados plantation, and build a house, with the pool you saw in the video.

Beautiful and sad. That’s a lot of memories.
