Hi there,
I just bought a beautiful cream/black/gold 2009 Speedmaster over the weekend. I'm the second owner. I'll be driving it to San Francisco daily for work. I'm hoping to start riding longer distances, perhaps with a group. 2 days of ownership and I've already dealt with the dreaded click...click...click, won't start issue. Fortunately for me, a new battery fixed the problem. My Speedy has a British Customs "bomber" exhaust and a remapped ECU. I haven't really opened it up but it definitely has the sound of power and seems to pull as strong or stronger than my buddy's stock 2014 Bonnie SE.
The Speedmaster is my 7th bike and my first Triumph. Up till now, I've always been a Honda/Yamaha guy (well, there was a short fling with an Italian scooter). My previous bike was a 2001 Honda Shadow vt750 A.C.E. Sweet bike, but it was a little weak for the open road and it was getting old. Why switch? Well, like I said, my buddy had a Bonneville. He let me ride it and I loved it! it made the Honda feel like driving a truck in comparison. The Speedmaster variant seemed a good fit for me because I'm a cruiser guy these days. And I haven't been disappointed.
