A short report.

My wife Sharron and I hopped on to the new toy with a full 3.5km on the clock about 11.45am today. We rode in light Sunday traffic for 10km to a friends house. I had two beers and a bit of a chat and home again. Sharron got off and said some good early things, such as the seat is firm but comfortable. From her that is high praise, 35 years ago we rode together for three mths over most of eastern Australia and she figures she had long ago paid her dues, these days she wants comfort. I then went for a bit of a run solo.

Early thoughts...
Even with only 100km on the clock it's very willing to go, not tight at all. Once it's moving it feels like a lighter bike than it is. It's easy to change direction to avoid a pot hole etc. In fact while I have only had it up to 100km / hr, it feels a lot like my Featherbed Norton Atlas without the vibration and rattles. The brakes while not bedded in yet are good, no need for twin discs on this bike. I think at this early stage the things that will be changed are a set of pipes to make it sound like it's actually running and a set of slightly lower and wider handlebars.

Looking forward to a long ride later this week.

Very nice and you have a fine stable! :y115:

I agree with the lower and wider bars. I don't remember the model number; but I have found a Sportster bar that is quite comfortable for me. It is basically the same thing as the NOrman Hyde Western bars - but less expensive.

There are a lot of options for cans. I run replacement cans for 60's era Bonnevilles on mine. Sprint makes the adapters.

Just got back from my first proper ride on the new toy. Clear blue sky and 18c or about 65f at 10.30am when I left home. We live on a narrow coastal strip so it was up one of the local passes on to the mountain to ride some twisting country roads. Was careful on the new tyres, but still flicked it about a bit. Don't know what the temperature on the mountain was but after about 30min my fingers were starting to go numb so down again to the coast.

This was taken at the bottom of a fantastic 10km ride down the mountain back into the dairy country on the coast. That blue on the horizon is the South Pacific Ocean, the bit between NZ and Australia, it's also known as the Tasman Sea.

I set the camera up on a fence post and got this one of "Happy Kev". The thing on the front of my bike is my rain gear, it is winter in this area. Still to decide what to do about luggage, small back pack, saddle bags etc.

These number plates (my initials then 00) have been going from bike to bike with me since the early 70's. I have another set on hold just now with the same initials and 000, but I haven't another newish bike to put them onto, we can't use them on our club bikes as club plates all start with "H" for historic.

Cheers Otherwise

cheers for the pics Kev
I'm liking that black and white more and more ( just visualising it on the speedy).
The old tassy looks better from your side than mine, at the moment it definitely is not that blue
:y18:

Harry,

I think you are a bit lower (closer to the south pole) than me, that's probably is the reason for the colour.

You know, up till now and including when I picked up the Bonnie, I figured they were a bit of a novelty bike, you know what I am getting at, not serious, just looking for the old image. I have really changed my mind, mine only has 200km on the clock and it's willing to jump and get into the serious side of a mountain pass.

Loving it.

Mate,

Great pic and magic bikes. When you get a chance, ride the T100 down here to Geelong, Vic and I'll take you along the Great Ocean Road. That's my playground.

Ride safe,

Lee :y18:

Nice pics. Lovely country and a lovely bike. You are right; the Bonnie is not a novelty bike. It is arguably the best all around bike on the market. It can do most everything, but excels at nothing except very good looks. It is comfortable for touring one up. Touring two up gets a bit cramped. And it loves the twisties.

Took another run out on the T100 today. The local "Triumph Rat Group" were running about 100km down the coast for lunch, so two mates and myself joined in. Being winter it was a late start 10.00am. Clear blue sky but cold enough for me to put my fluro waterproof jacket on over the leathers. Being Sunday and on a main road it was a speed limit run, mostly 100km / hr. About 15 starters from the Triumph dealership, but when we stopped at Shoalhaven Heads Hotel for lunch the numbers had climbed to about 30.

This is a small part of the car park

Before we left a couple of photos were taken, unfortunately the photographer couldn't get far enough back to get us all in shot. This is about 66% of the group. That's me 4th from the left in the fluro jacket, 5th from left is Ray (Speedmaster) and next to him Ken (Rocket 3).

We had a good day out with good people, but for me midweek riding is a better deal, the highway police aren't so hot to be in your face and the traffic is lighter.

In summary, the longer I have the T100 the better I feel about it.

LOL..
ya jacket's so bright it threw the metering in the camera off, and the pic came out dark. :ya2:

Yep, I had just put new batteries in it
And, yes the other blokes gave me some stick. According to Ken, 58 years of being "hetro" are now out the window, one appearance that jacket makes me a 100% player for the other team.
