I am an old guy, been riding for years, all my bikes have had carbs. I understand carbs. I don't need a computer to change things in the tune etc. I however do all of my own work unless machining is involved.
It is definitely the old school approach. So, that is my bias. I had a 70 Bonneville back in 1974-76. I loved the bike but eventually sold it and bought older Harleys. 2 of which I still ride, one has a sidecar.

My 2007 that I have now has the same basics the 1970 had: 360-degree crank for the classic Triumph sound, Air Cooled, Carbs and not EFI & fuel pump. No catalytic convertor. Perfect blend of old and "new" in that it has a counter balanced engine, electronic ignition, better carbs, disc brakes and electric start.

The 2001 is a true Made in England bike, before the fire. Simple bike. Smaller and prettier
gas tank because of lack of a fuel pump. Also, I know many riders like the 790 better than the 865.

The 2013 bike has everything the 2001 has but EFI with an electric fuel pump, a catalytic converter
and a slightly larger engine.

I'd ride them both, drive a hard bargain and buy the one that speaks to you regardless of price.

Consider also, the price of new tires, battery etc. Maybe different seat and pipes. It adds up quick.
thanks for that i went for the 2013 with full triumph service history,9000 miles on the clock
