I live in North Ga, USA, been street riding ..legally...since I was 16, but actually a few years before that. I started on Jap dirt bikes and graduated to a 1970 Bonneville that my dad bought new. I presently own a 2015 Tbird Commander and love it. only problem is that I am in a custody battle with the dealer over the bike, they have it more than I do. (not really, but it seems that way) I have always done my own maintenance and most repairs, but this bike seems to always have to have the computer accessed, so I find I have to take it to the dealer far too often. I love it anyway and my experience with other British vehicles prepared me for the experience. There is just something about a British vehicle that makes them worth the extra trouble and expense.
It isn't any fun drinking beer and telling stories about your Honda that has never done anything but run always the same and never require any extra attention, even when you neglect it...BORING. I fondly remember swapping stories of being able to check the oil in my Bonny just by watching it drip, or having to have a complete inventory of replacement bulbs on hand at all times, or when my 1966 Jaguar E Type 4.2L would drown out if i even passed by a puddle, or my MGB that blew a heater hose and shorted out the ignition, or the time the dash caught fire while I was driving it ...good times. All things considered, I will take personality in a vehicle or a person over boring predictability any day, and if three is one thing a Triumph has, it is personality.
