Woke up this morning and the house felt a little cool, then I realized there was no hot water either. My wife said the dryer had been running all night and the clothes inside were cold and still wet.

uh-oh!

I thought to myself that I knew I paid the gas company bill. Then I recalled that I'd just got another bill yesterday and looked inside. Sure enough....I was paid up and there was nothing due until February 13th.

So I call the gas company and they confirm that my service was still active. Then they switched me over to the gas emergency department. They said they take these things very seriously and would have a guy at my door in 15 minutes.

Sure enough, he shows up and confirms there's no gas getting to my gas meter. He says it's probably a hole in my gas line which I am responsible for if it's not a problem with their line.

Firsts things first, they dig up their line to check it and to run a pressure check on my line. So after a while they have things dug up and the guy comes inside to run the pressure test.

HOORAY!!! My gas line holds pressure!! The problem was outside my property in the Gas Company's line for which I'm NOT responsible.

The gas company guy says he could have sworn the problem would be on my side and that I'm like one out of 5000 who's gas lines hold pressure and it turns out to be their problem.

Had it been my line, I'd have to hire an excavator to dig it all up and replace the line, get the gas company's OK on his work, and I'd be out around $3000.00.

I am counting my lucky stars right now!!!

My friend, I am glad for you! That is definitely a stroke of good luck.
