Very interesting.
We've put in a few dozen trees that are now starting to give more shade than before, the result is we're getting some strange mushrooms and fungi.
I have no idea what this is but we figured we'd take a photo. Since then we've seen a few of them both in our place and in the reserve behind us.

That is a beautiful fungus. I have not seen that species. Thanks for the pic. My guess is the increase of fungi you are seeing are mycorrhizal fungi. These fungi live in a symbiotic relationship with trees. They provide the trees with a greater absorption of nutrients from the soil and in turn take nutrients they need from the trees. In the experiments I did in the the University of Florida Forest Pathology and Genetics lad, we found that if one heavily fertilizes a tree, the micorrrhiza disappear. They never become a parasite to the tree. If these are mycorrhizal fungi, it is a good thing.
