We've never had any biker gang problems in this relatively quiet part of the country and don't now, but there was a stigma attached to anyone who rode a bike for many years. This was mainly due to bad publicity elsewhere and movies to a certain extent, I'm sure.
The fast-food industry around here encourages bikes by offering 10% discounts on food in bike nights. Arby's was the first to do it.
Others like Wendy's and Tim Hortons are also gathering places for the bike crowd.
The tourism industry and motel industry encourage motorcyclists and are very happy to see them arrive.
But like everything else it only takes a few to ruin things for all. The loud pipes crowd are very annoying to the rest of us so I know the public hates them too.
There will be a crackdown at the gathering places I'm sure when people are finally fed up with the noise.
Loud bikes, loud cars and burning rubber idiots have already been chased out of some places.

The only restriction we had back then was that you could not wear jeans but they all knew very well who were the big spenders in the pubs. We used to have times at different pubs where there were lines of bikes parked outside.
