I had posted the link to this article on our old forum. The topic of helmet ratings surfaced on another forum and I dug around and re-discovered this article. It is long, but contains worthwhile and good information. Be sure to read the Snell Foundations' response. It also debunks the $50 head, $50 helmet myth.

I think it is more realistic for real world riding than are Snell and DOT methods. I have not studied the EU method enough to comment on it; but I do like their standards. I deliberately avoid Snell rated helmets as these helmets are harder absorbing less energy, and transmitting more shock to the skull. At my age and declining brain power, I don't need any more shock to my skull! :y114:
