I have a 2012 Thunderbird and was wondering if anyone has used Mobil 1 15-50 Synthetic oil in thier Tbirds, and if so are you satisfied with the performance? Thanks.

What weights does the manual call for? The Thunderbird is a liquid cooled engine, I believe. In your part of the world, the 50 weight might be too much. I run 50 weight in my air cooled engines here in the South; but I run 40 weight in my liquid cooled Tiger. Go by what the manual says taking your climate into consideration.

tsm2whln. The manual sugests the same weight in a Castrol Synthetic @ $12.50 a quart.

tsm2whln I have switched all my vehicles (including my '05 Tiger) to Rotella T synthetic (available in 5w40, 15-30, 10-30) on average it is 14.00-25.00 a gallon at Wally World or Auto Zone. the engines just love it, no issues at all with wet clutch slippage and you can't beat the price!!!

Any motorcycle specific synthetic will work well. The brand won't matter. Use the weight recommended by your manual. Rotella is a diesel oil and, while it is not motorcycle specific, it works very well for motorcycles. It does not have the additives that can adversely affect a wet clutch. Automobile gasoline engine oils should not be used. Any diesel oil will work fine. I use Rotella in my Tiger because I also use it in my truck.

Thank You.

Thanks to all who replied!! Has anyone used what Triumph used to use as there sugested oil B4 The Castrol ? Mobil 1 15-50 Full Synthetic?

I did use the Mobil 1 in my Speed Triple years ago. When I lived in the Florida Keys the closest Wal-Mart was a 2.5 hour drive. I can say for the $ difference....there is no difference. (I am not a mechanic and I do not play one on TV) :y2:

Thanks for your input, and attention to the subject of Triumph Motorcycles, and not Subarus.

Yes....I used it in my Trophy at first until I discovered Rotella. Roughly a few years. I just decided that the difference in cost was not getting me any better lubrication.
