In the article I wrote recently about the ladies who crossed America first by car and then motorcycle, a 1909 Maxwell car was used for the auto trip.
On my recent visit to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, I visited Casa Loma which is a castle-like structure built 100 years ago by a Canadian billionaire - who eventually went broke and the residence ended up in the hands of the city, and is now a public museum.
This is the "castle" which has been in many movies and TV shows.

This is the nearby hunting lodge and stable for the many horses.

A collection of vintage cars owned by the billionaire are also housed in the lodge - which were new of course in those days.
In particular is this 1910 Maxwell car which would have been almost identical to the car that crossed America in 1909.

These are some of the other cars on display.

I posted the thread before I was finished as I wanted to show you some of the extravagant rooms inside the "castle."

This is a room that was prepared for the king and queen of England on their next visit, but that didn't happen.

The carved marble, stone and exotic woods are something to behold.
Many of the floors are laid in ornate patterns and not a nail or drop of glue was used to lay them.
The artists and skilled men who built this place were the absolute masters of their crafts.
The work and attention to detail that went into this place is mind boggling.
