If you have a black engine especially, this stuff is awesome. I tried lots of things and this worked best. Not just because the bike looked great afterwards, but because it STAYED that way ! I used it once then didn't clean the bike again for 2 or 3 weeks. I usually clean it to one degree or another a couple times a week, but i just didn't have to. But this stuff not only makes the black pop like it's right off the assembly line, but the silicone in it keeps dirt and dust from sticking to surfaces. So it stays clean for a long long time. It can be used on everything, but black is it's forte. On chrome and tank/fender paint it also gives the same longevity of cleanliness. But it takes a bit of rubbing to get rid of the streaks, so i don't use it on the gloss paint. on chrome it's easier tho, and the chrome stayed so much cleaner ! Usually i can clean and/or wax my chrome and the next day it's covered with tiny specs of what must be pollution, and when you wipe it down you see the stuff smudge. But it doesn't stick to the silicone protection the maxima leaves near as much if at.

There are other silicone products, and i've used a couple. But the difference is that the maxima not only seems to last longer, but when using it on black surfaces like the frame and engine and all else, it doesn't leave areas that look wetter than others. it goes on evenly. Great stuff. i think it's good for any bike, but if you have the black engine this stuff is indispensible.

I ran out of maxima SC1 the other day and the place i got it from was out. So i tried another silicone detailer i found from the Motul company who also make the oil many like so much.

Long story short, i found that it's just as good and that i realized it's the type of product (silicone) that is so good, not just the maxima brand. The Motul stuff is called "shine & go". I would say go with any silicone based product and you'll get equally good results. Some call them "detailer", some say "cleaner". Semantics, thats all. If it says silicone it's going to do the same job which is to make all satin black parts and rubber parts look as new.

UPDATE: I said before that because of the streak it leaves that are very hard to rub out, silicone detailer isn't great for tanks and other gloss paint or chrome, and that it is only good on the black satin parts like the engine and rubber parts. Well, it may be the motul is better that the maxima i first tried that with, or maybe when i first tried it there was some reason i had problems i was unaware of. but whatever the reason today i tried the motul on the tank and some chrome today and i did NOT have the problem i had previously where it left greasy streaks that took a ton of work to rub out. It does take a bit more than with other products like water based detailer, but not a lot like i found when i first tried maxima on my chrome and tank. And because silicone leaves an exceptionally slick surface and a lot of protection that lasts very long, i may now have to say i would recommend it for the entire bike. Maybe not vinyl, but most everything else. I believe that anyone who tries this suff with a black engine triumph especially will never again want to be w/o it.

It's been a long time since my last post on this subject. As you can see i was suggesting the motul stuff was better because it was usable on paint and chrome w/o streaking. Well, that may be the case. But i gotta tell you that i started using Maxima SC1 again, and theres just no doubt that for the black parts it's far superior. Yes, i've gone back and fourth. But sometimes it can be hard to tell w/o long term use of several products, and i have to admit i was wrong....the SC1 is superior w/o a doubt. I used the motul shine & go for quite a while. But i decided to try SC1 again to see how it worked after using the motul for a long time. It's the stuff. It may not work as well on chrome and gloss paint, but theres no doubt it's far superior on satin paint like the black engine and frame, etc. I remember the first time i used it and being blown away by how the bike looked after i detailed all the black with SC1. (not to mention it stayed that clean and beautiful for about 6 weeks) It's never looked that amazing since till i just detailed it with SC1 yesterday for the first time since i began using shine&go.

Trust me on this.........if you have a speedmaster especially, PLEASE try this stuff. It's truly better than anything on the black parts, especially the triumph textured paint they use on the speedy engine. I went for a ride today with the bike done up with sc1, and i swear to you that at almost every traffic light i was stopped at i caught the car next to me staring at the bike. Much more than normally. It looked amazing. I love this stuff.

I have tried many things on this bike, and when the black looks deep and new it really makes the bike stand out as a gorgeous machine like nothing else does. This stuff makes the black looks so deep and new, and i didn't realize just how much so till i tried it again just the other day and saw what i'd been missing. It's w/o a doubt the best for this, I was simply wrong. But as with everything in life, the only way to truly know is to A/B test things, and i find you usually have to go back and fouth a time or 2 to truly see.

And i didn't just go back to it because i wanted to try it again. I COULDN'T go back to it till now because no one carried it around here except one dealer, and they were always out and too far away. But i was at a little ma and pa shop last week just a block from home where i'd buy the motul and i asked them if they had any other silicone product because the last can of motul had gone bad 1/3 of the way thru. Plus it's a small can and costs the same as SC1. Then i told him about SC1 and he said he'd trder some. Sure enough he did. So now i have the stuff available to me a block away from home !

Thought i'd update this. these posts are all very old, and i had stopped using the maxima SC1 a few years back. But I recently decided to try it again and i noticed it's now called "top coat". They must have changed the formula because i never used to use it on glossy parts due to the oily streaks it left. Anyways, i bought it because i remember it being the best for the satin black parts like engine and frame. But about a week ago i noticed the new name change (still "SC1" But now says top coat under that) and also looked at the instructions which now says to spray it on and wait 30 seconds. I never did that before and i don't recall it saying that. So i tried it on the tank, fenders and chrome. After waiting 30 seconds the stuff changes....it becomes sorta gooey feeling like tree sap. But never the less it wipes right off and the oily streaking is no longer a issue. It still have to be thoroughly wiped down to make sure, but unlike before it's not problematic at all.

I know i've raved about several products in the past, but don't let the boy who cried wolf feeling you probably get from my detailing product reviews taint you on this one....this stuff is definitely the best final product i have ever used. the gloss it leaves is noticeably better than anything i have used and it really lasts. I did the whole bike with it and it has never looked that gem like. I wish i could capture it in a picture. seriously....try this stuff. Nothing will leave a deeper, slicker gloss. and i'm fanatical about that. And as with all things of this type, the darker the paint the bigger the benefit. Those with silver or white need not apply.

Let me know what you think Carl. Not sure how much good it will do on your 800 since it's white, right? But the bonnie will benefit.

it'll be good for that. Rght now tho i'm just very excted about how it works on the glossy paint, tank and fenders. Thats where i think you gotta try it on the bonnie. it's very good for the frame and other black satin paint...engine etc. But ts the paint job where t really shines. :y2: (pun intended) Funny thing is, before i would have said the opposite.

I think so. It is w/o a doubt the glossiest deepest shine i've gotten from anything. And unlike anything else it seems to last. Other sprays and waxes etc after a couple days loose the brilliance you see right after the application. This i walk into the garage days later and it still looks like i just did it. Probably because air pollutants can't easily stick due to the silicone content.
