I have had one looking like that when I had my first Triumph as the sprocket and break drum were one unit and I could not find one anyplace.

I had to eventually get an engineering workshop to machine the sprocket down and then mount a new one and fix it on for me.

Did it still work a bit at this stage?

Wow! I had never seen any wear like that!

It really became hard to ride as when you took off it had to be very slowly as the chain would just jump.

As long as you took it slow it worked ok, no cranking the throttle at all. It was really an issue not being able to find the full drum but fortunately an engineering company sorted it out. I sold it eventually with the modified drum still working great.
That had to be very frustrating - especially in traffic! I am glad you were able to get it repaired and enjoy riding.
