Looking To Buy A Bonnie; They Seem Heavy!

Looks like the SE model. Has the different exhaust(non pea shooters) and cast wheels, no tach. Same frame as T 100 of that era, so all parts should be obtainable, such as a tach and center stand. Where it's been sitting for so long, the fuel system could probably use a good cleaning/flush and I would give the inside of the tank a good look for rust/sediment build up.

I went to look at it. It is the standard Bonnie with a silver tank. Brand new bike with 835 miles on it. Bought it for his girl's first bike but she never got to like it. Asking $5500 USD.
I read reviews that say the springs/shocks are crap and that the front needs springs and alterations. Also heard that the F.I. is dodgy off-idle and caused one guy to drop it. Heard from FortNine (YouTube) that the brakes are not adequate. etc etc.
Now I don't know. I'm thinking over night to let him know. Was $8K new 6 years ago (purchased in 2016).
5K isn't a bad price. You could do a lot of upgrades when you figure them out or live with it. There were a lot of standard upgrades as the years went by. 2021 started the current highest specs on motor, suspension, brakes and features. New cost of around 11K. Used maybe 9K Perhaps 2020 Street Twin had those upgrades first, except the Tach. Motoeuropa in St. Loius has a 2022 Street Twin for $9500. Its been dropped, not wrecked or crashed by previous owner>> 2022 Triumph Street Twin in Saint Louis, Missouri Price could be negotiable.

Didn't really know where to put this. I've been hitting dealers and doing research, looking for the perfect new or used bike, preferably a newer T-100 or T-120 or ?
I was looking at the 2022 models and the T-120 felt like I was sitting on a pig compared to my relatively svelte '72 Tiger (387 dry). I'm loving my 5-spd Tiger but I need something that will be reliable for extended trips (It has been trouble free for 2 years but I don't trust it out in the middle of the Mojave Etc.).
My question is this: Was there a (modern) year Bonneville that is lighter? Is there a year bike that is known to be better than others in terms of performance and reliability and also doesn't weigh 500+Lbs? I don't mind carbs, I've never had F.I. Thanks! -BA

I've enjoyed my 2013 Bonnie SE after doing some maintenance and mods . Installed a higher capacity YUASA battery instead of the generic crap that was previously installed. Center stand was not hard to procure aftermarket and installed easily (OEM not available). New Progressive Suspension lower end value shocks helped immensely with the ride .Lucked into a used Triumph premium seat that sure feels a lot better than the stock wooden plank with vinyl on it. Have had no problem with performance with the non modified FI system . Brakes work fine for me ,but then again I don't flog the hell out of bike. After owning close to 50 bikes over the years this one suits me fine for what will probably end up being my last road bike. Still would like a tach but have not found what I like yet.

With the bags, rack and windshield added I'm probably around 500 lbs or a touch more. Mainly been riding 1500 cc GoldWings and Valkryies the previous 10 years. They ran 750 to 900 lbs with my stuff in the bags . After heart incident #4 I could not even push them around my shop let alone hold them up at a stop. Tried a Honda 750 Aero ,nice working bike but don't really like the cruiser riding position .So I went back to my much younger days and bought the Bonnie. This bike I can push around my shop and does what I need. Wish we had the choices of a standard bike that are offered in Great Britain/Europe, but the cruiser theme is still going fairly strong in North America.
