I read the news this morning on my news home page when I logged on.
I knew who Bowie was of course, but I was never a fan and my only exposure to him was to hear him by chance on the radio or sometimes see him on TV.
Beyond that, he was never a part of my life, only because like most singers and entertainers, I can take them or leave them - mostly leave them.
But that's just me and no offence to any of his fans.

Lemmy is buried on the same day - unfortunately, I couldn't make it to Hollywood Lawns. Agree with you Rocky, but there are/were some great musicians/singers who deserve recognition. Some of those who influenced me, in musical ways - Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Reg Presley, to name a few. They say that 28 is the best age to die - you can make a fortune by reviving your record sales and your autograph becomes priceless. We Baby Boomers are witnessing the deaths of our teenage idols - we all thought that we would live forever, or die before we got old! We are getting old but, boy, are we enjoying ourselves whilst doing it!

I was never a big fan, never bought any of his music but I did like some of his work.

Of course his album with Stevie Ray Vaughan is one I should add to my SRV collection.

Classic Stevie Ray on the intro.
