I installed the Kaoko Throttle Control on my Tiger 800XC and tried it out today. It was a simple, straight forward installation and the instruction were complete. It took me about 15 minutes including reading the instructions.
Took a 100 mile ride with most of it on the freeway. The control is a little awkward at first; but with practice I got used it. It holds the throttle steady and I can move the throttle with the control engaged without having to loosen the mechanism. In short it works as advertised. I had been using a cramp buster and that is now in my spare parts bin.
It is NOT an electronic cruise control. Therefore I have to add throttle going up a hill and decrease throttle going down a long hill. But it surely does relax the hand when rolling down the free way at 85 mph. I can completely remove my hand from the throttle when the control is engaged. This will be a Godsend for long trips.
I tend to ride with my pinkies just off the grips, I wonder if that would be a problem when using this device? On my next ride I'll pay more attention to where my hands are positioned and try to imagine if I'll be unintentionally activating this device or not.
Well the instruction look easy enough. I have never thought about installing something like this before on a bike but then I suppose in the passed I never have seen one that seems like it would really work that great.
Glenn, do you have bar-ends on your Bonnie? You can make your own crude throttle control out of an o-ring that will fit between the throttle grip and bar-end. Just roll the o-ring into the gap to set the speed and roll it up on the grip to release the speed control.

My grips are the stock 1979 GT ribbed cushion grips. I have actually thought about swapping them out but did not because I want to keep the stock appearance (except for the rear belt drive, and electric start system. Plus the rear fender guard is no longer there because the rear drive belt was wider. I also thought about fabricating a wider one that looks like the stock one but never did and I also like the open look).
I have a set on my T Bird, I love the look, because the bar weights, look the same as genuine ones, the price is a bit high in comparison to others, but a quality product.
