Today my son Alex took his first ride on the road, just got his L plates, one of the few bikes in the shed that he could legally use was the 1949 /50 Thunderbird so that's what he took round the local backroads this afternoon. not much of a pic, I was on my Kawasaki and rushed off a shot on the phone as we were about to set out. We went out for about 40 minutes before the rain clouds closed in and we got back in before the rain. He certainly seemed to enjoy it although he didn't like the lack of braking on the old girl. He thinks she is a cool ride in these days of bobbers.

Lovely to see you out together and Alex enjoying the firsts steps hopefully to a lifetime in biking.
Glad the wet stuff just held off,not much fun even for us more experienced in the wet on a bike with weak brakes!,good luck to him with the test etc.

Great day for you all. By the way, aren't his feet in the right place for maximum braking on the old ones.............all he needs is sintered metallic soles and heels.
Sorry, I just couldn't let that one pass: Jim
