AJ, that is what upset me with Rat.Net. Someone can slam HD's or slam a group of people, or slam a country and the mods do nothing. But if someone raises a counterpoint without slamming anything or anyone, or any group, that person receives a nasty gram. I have seen at least three instances of this and that finished me with Rat.Net.

To be fair, the mods did defend Dazco against the personal attacks made on him by Redline and they did take appropriate action.

Actually that is quite strange that you point that out. When you think of it we have had so few encounters to moderate but we did not fit into another board because we did not conform. And it is not as if we have a free for all anything goes here either, make you think :y18:

I think it just boils down to having respect for others and what they think and feel. :y115:

It's called respecting other's opinions...that's all.

I see no reason to ever get personal with someone I don't even know personally. I always state my opinion without making it a personal issue.

Evidently, RAT.net had moderators that had favorites who could say and do whatever they pleased without a word being said.... and if you said anything even remotely or indirectly in contrast to one of those people, you were the bad guy.

Here...people seem to respect that we all have differing opinions on issues and can keep it above being a personal matter.

yes, but that jackass came back twice and they did nothing the other times ! he was there when i first arrived and quickly started going afer me with insults like a rabid dog. This happened again when he came back under a different name, and that time they did NOTHING. He was blatantly insulting me to the point other members were thrashing him because they saw i did nothing to warrant it. But he kept at me and said nothing to those bashing him. I emailed the mods at the time and shawn and no one did anything for a long time. Finally when there were a ton of thread with constant warring they finally banned him again.

funny tho....i've been posting there in the last week for the first time in months, and i have been basically defending the new 1600 and doing so with no holds barred. But also without being insulting and nasty untill it's called for. So far no one has bashed me in the twins forum yet even when suggesting that those calling the bike a POS and all sorts of nasty mean spirited things are immature. One guy actually apologized ! But they are still spewing insults towards the bike. One of the things i told them which may have been what caused the apology for the one guy is i asked him "would you call someone's wife a ugly POS"? If not, why would you say things like that about someones loved personal possession like their bike? Granted no one owns one yet, but some will and theres really no difference between calling a bike someone owns a POS and calling the bike they intend to own a POS. Still many will continue to be juvenile aholes. It's just the way of the world today. And add to that the ability to hide behind the internet and say anything you want, and all the jackasses who can't say these things to people's faces in person but CAN online are drawn out of the woodwork.

Now that you mention it I remember this incident I don’t think I was still on that side at the time. I think you must have told us about it on the old forum. As far as the thread and the 1600 I would not even bother with them if I were you. You will find opinions will change as people start purchasing this bike.

I agree. thats what i said already....once the bike is out it will be accepted far more and i even believe it will become the most popular cruiser. That is, unless they extra maybe $3k is too much for many people, but i can't imagine that. I bet at least 1/2 od 900cruiser owners and potential owners will go to the 1600, and i bet even more R3 owners and potential owners will. One thing no one has mentioned yet really is that this is the worlds biggest P-twin ever by two fold ! (unless there is some historical one-off or rare bike i don't know of) With the R3 this represents two firsts in the world of motorcycles by the new triumph company.

Bikes, cars, music, women, etc.....it's ALL personal taste and choice.

Just because I don't think something is my own personal cup of tea doesn't mean I have to bash people who do. It's their money and they can spend it any way the please.

Now that's different if someone asks what my OPINION of something might be. But even then, I'd normally say it just my own taste before I say something negative and I would normally do it without being insulting.

I've used that exact same argument more times than i can remember, tho i usually mention bashing opera because you don't like that type of music. But in any case, it just goes in one ear and out the other. After all, if they could understand that, they wouldn't say the things they do. Because to understand that is to know you'd be a sub-moronic imbecile to say those things. But alas....we'll just have to allow them to remain sub-moronic imbeciles.
