Well I was just browsing another Triumph site and I was quite taken back how it has changed. Seems that they have gone fully commercial as you now struggle to find the post amongst all the advertisements. I thought I would go and see what they had to say on the new 1600 but I just gave up.

Good thing you DID give up.....it would have just pi$$ed you off ! I'm over there posting as nicely as i can in reply to those dumping on the 1600 in a mean spirited way in hopes the come after me like rabid dogs. Then i will proceed to give them a shenanny shellacking they'll never forget and hopefully get myself banned in the process.

If you are talking about rat.net, they got bought out.

You can click the lower left button to return to "classic view", and that helps a little. You can also change your preference to remove some of the clutter.

I'm a moderator there, so I'll put up with the commerciality of it.

I abandoned that forum a couple of years ago after they had a big turnover in moderators and a group came in who basically forced everyone else out of participating. They put a woman moderator in the Twins forum who believed it was her job to post at least 10 replies to every topic and she had a very poor knowledge of motorcycles, much less Triumph twins. And in their general forum they put in a moderator who believed he was comedian (Archimedes?) and he posted about 20 new topics a day that all quickly melted down to personal messages. It just got to be nothing but boring fluff.

I check it out about once a year now and am always amazed by the lack of knowledgeable direction still present in that forum.

Great description. ouldn't have described it better myself. Unfortunately i think it's even worse now.

LOL...yeah, he cracked himself up didn't he? I rarely went to the biker hang out forum because it was an entire page of his "wit".

I don't know who bought them out.

I don't mess with ANY of the other sections, I don't have time for that. At least over here, I visit a half-dozen sections and I just set up my gallery and it's got over 100 pix already.

...that reminds me, I need to start copying posts on a restoration I just started, a '68 Triumph T100R Tiger!

I am looking forward to that thread.

I was only visiting the Classics section at RatNet; now I can't log in any more.

There seems to be a lot of unhappy campers from T-rat and most of them defected to a new site called new bonnevilleriders.com started by bonafied and it is pretty loose and not suitable for work type stuff, usually labeled but language is not censored. You might of heard of it. The first couple of weeks were folks venting about T-rat and issues with mods or things that happened since the buy out .http://newbonnevilleriders.com/ enter at your own risk. I haven't spent much time at T-rat this last year so I've felt out of place there and a lot of names are the same at nbr.com so it seems the same there too. I guess to each his own, if you are not happy where you're at go someplace else or start your own huh?

Right. Same as this forum when it changed over, you have to get set up again.

Now I find this interesting to hear that you need to register again. Looking at the stats make me wonder I must admit

I went through the registration process at RatNet using my same username and password. When I got all through the ordeal, it told me the username was already in use. So I decided to try to login in again; voila, it worked. It told me the last time time I had logged in was January 4th. I updated my email address and never visited the forums.

I believe you are right. I recall them mentioning that name in their posts. Motorcycle.com sounds like a large company with many different websites under their wing.

Yeah, Motorcycle.com Network has similar websites as RAT.net for all the major motorcycle brands.

I voluntarily left RAT.net after they were putting-down Harleys in a thread, saying they were dinosaurs of technology, and I simply pointed-out that my two Harleys (one even being a 1972) both have self-canceling turn signals while no Triumph I know of does.

That simple truth started a firestorm and I was being accosted in PMs and on the board for simply stating a fact.

When the moderator wrote and warned me that I could get banned (for speaking the truth?), I left.
