Well I received this mail today. Now as we know we get a lot of these types of mail doing their rounds. However this one got me thinking about when they robbed my house and how precise they were and seemed to know exactly where all the good stuff was kept. Nothing else was out of place and in 15 minutes they walk away with a huge amount of valuables. :cash:

Dear friends..

I would like to share a something with all of you..so that you are more
aware of your domestic workers.

Last Friday, (25.07.08) my maid forgot her cell phone at my house. I
decided to have a look at the phone...

I found that she has video clips of all the houses that she works at incl.
mine.
She filmed everything. From room to room, making specific notice to
appliances, the TV's, dvd's, sound systems etc.

I was very shocked and surprised to see this. I then went thru the rest of
her phone...and found sms confirmations of huge sums of monies being deposited
into her account twice in this month.(more than double my salary).
What is a domestic worker doing with that amount of money?
Cos' the money I pay her is peanuts compared to that.

Our first thoughts were that she probably gets paid for assisting burglars.
It is purely murphy's law that she
forgot her phone, because my place was filmed on Friday the 25 of July,
while I was at work.
So, I don't know what she has been planning and for when, but I am so glad
that we found this now.

She also took pictures of our pictures that we have on the fridge and in
frames on the walls etc. as well as the intercom behind the door.
This I find very strange and suspicious.

She phoned me frantically later that night to tell me to switch her phone
off. I have not asked her anything yet.

I have infact sent the video clips to my phone for proof if we may need it.
But I have since changed the locks on my doors and I have asked her to come
to my place on Saturday instead of during the week.
We plan on confronting her first and then dismissing her.

*Another thing I would like to mention is that normally when I talk to her,
she has this thing that she can not talk english very well...
but on the video clip her english is very good and even her tone of voice is different.

So be careful guys..and take care.

No not yet it just tweaked my interest because of what happened with our burglary. As I said at the time I thought the maid had let the burglars into the house to check out where all the stuff was kept beforehand. Remember they were only in my place around 15 min before my alarm company responded and by this time they were gone. Also nothing was out of place only the cupboards and draws that had the expensive stuff in was opened.

Check it out and see what you find

whether it's a hoax or not it's a good scam.

a variation on a scam that was old when they were building pyramids.

the other message levels are pretty nasty, typical race/class war BS, rich guy and his maid?

guve me a break! it'll work on a few people, but mainly its divisive paranoia farming.

another scam as old as history. divide and conquer, we call it 'spin'.

Jim in South Africa it is very common to have a maid fulltime or part time. This is just not amongst the rich but across all walks of life. This is a huge job source for our work force. Now we had one that would come in once a week and I have a Gardner that comes in twice a month. Since our robbery we will never employ another maid as she was involved in the whole affair for sure. So one more job lost to crime.

Now my Gardner is as old as the hills and blind in the one eye. Basically all he does is a bit of light work keeping the garden tidy all the hard stuff I do myself. He works from around 08:30 to 14:30 with a lunch break. When he arrives he has his 2 litre Coke waiting for him. Today for lunch he had 1 x Cornish pie, 1 x Russian sausage roll and chips. He was paid more than the going wage for the day and walk away with 1 x large chocolate bar, 1 x 1kg of meat, 1 x pocket of oranges, 2 x loafs of bread, 1 x 2 litre orange cool drink. He will most likely work for me until the day he cannot anymore as I know he needs the cash and supplies to supplement his living and I just don’t have the heart to fire the old guy.

yup good point!

how ever my point is that a thief

can be your gardener not that your gardener is a thief.

one of those distinctions that must be made eh?

any thing done out of respect and affection

gets my applause any day!

Good grief! What is your problem? The fact that people actually have maids? Get a life man - plenty people all over the world have maids. I don't think taking pictures with a cell phone to set up a robbery is a scam as old as the hills - hello how long have camera phones been around? Divisive paranoia farming? Please! Maids, especially part timers are know to be the insider in many robberies and are normally the prime suspect.

Lioness is right. In SA, many, many of the daytime or holiday period house burglaries where nobody is injured but certain items are targetted and stolen without the usual mess of a "tossed house", has the domestic worker "maid" or gardener at the bottom of it. Proven a 1000 times over here in SA.

Having a "maid" or "gardener" in SA is not a big deal - it's a huge employment creator, especially for the uneducated or illiterate people. People of all race, colour and creed in SA have maids - some live-in some don't. It's not a class thing and it's not rich guy vs maid - it's opportunity. You have it, I want it, so I'll take it!
