So after posting the SA national anthem on the other thread, it got me all patriotric and loving my country this morning, so I thought I'd post some truly, ethnic and traditional South African songs. My all time favourite South African performer is Miriam Makeba - the true "Mamma Afrika". So here a few of my besties!

Feel free to add your country's best, truly ethinic and traditional songs. Just a bit of fun this Friday because Thursday sucked!

I grew up in a very rural area of Zululand (now KwaZulu Natal) and I was surrounded by the beautiful harmonizing Zulu voices - I could sing the Zulu lullabys before I knew any English nursery rhymes.

This a Zulu lullabye my Zulu "gogo" (granny in Zulu) sang to me. She would put me on her back in the traditional Zulu way and sing me to sleep - spoilt little baby!

Tula Tu Tula baba Tula sana Tul'umam 'uzobuya ekuseni Tula Tu Tula baba Tula sana Tul'umam 'uzobuya ekuseni (be silent baby keep silent mama will be back in the morning). Hush my baby close your eyes Time to fly to paradise Till the sunlight brings you home You must dream your dreams alone Tula Tu Tula baba Tula sana Tul'umam 'uzobuya ekuseni Tula Tu Tula baba Tula sana Tul'umam 'uzobuya ekuseni (be silent baby keep silent mama will be back in the morning).

Hush my baby go to sleep I'll be with you counting sheep Dreams will take you far away Sleep until the break of day Tula Tu Tula baba Tula sana Tul'umam 'uzobuya ekuseni (be silent baby keep silent mama will be back in the morning). Dudududududud ...
