Is Tesla Autopilot Killing Motorcycle Riders?

Yes, and no doubt some day AI will be a reality. Just not yet and yes, “autopilot” is misleading. Dangerous out there for sure and more so at night.

In the Atlanta, GA area, a motorcycle in the HOV lane going slower than 95 mph is quite likely to be rear-ended by any
vehicle following behind. This pretty much holds true for motorcycles traveling in any lane on an Interstate Highway near any metropolitan area in GA. Law enforcement is usually no where to be found, and average speeds usually exceed the speed limit by at least 20 mph. Since I ride for the fresh air, scenery, and relaxation, rather than pushing hard for a destination, I stay as far away from Interstate Highways as possible! A motorcycle in an HOV lane in GA is attempted suicide.

I avoid highways inner city and I avoid riding at night. Still I’m weary of any device claiming to be as intelligent as a human. As pointed out, programming is only as good as the input and the devices that the machine can use to analyze. I prefer a human asshat to an electronic one at this point.
Auto-pilot, 10" media screen, cellphones, food, other distractions, most drivers are not engaged in driving.
