Yeah, good idea to find out why that happened so it doesn't happen again. I've been looking at those belt-drive set-ups, but, they be awfully pricey. But maybe not . . .
I very nearly dropped the dime on one, as I've got a belt primary in my '51 FL (Panhead) and it was in there for a long time before I bought the bike. It is brilliant. Quiet, tough, smooth, and it's very nice being able to futz with the primary and clutch without oil, gaskets, etc.
But since the primary chain and sprockets were in such good shape on my '71 Bonny, I put 'em back for now.
Anyway... Robin, I'll be keen on seeing how this works out for you. Main thing is, you didn't fall off or get rear-ended when the wheel locked up. Thank goodness for that!
