Hello everyone.
I got home last night from my ride over in Newfoundland.
We came home about 36 hours ahead of schedule because hurricane Maria was closing in fast and we didn't want to get caught.
As it turned out Maria stayed to the south and only brought a bit of rain to Nova Scotia - and it only rained lightly when I was about ten minutes from my house. But maria is expected to hit eastern Newfoundland today (we were in the west) with high winds and rain. Looks like we dodged another bullet.
We had a fantastic time and rode 2,530 (1,581 miles). My friend on the 1976 750cc Bonneville rode like a champ and the bike performed like a champ too. He has owned the bike since new and it's in top condition. The rest of us were on modern bikes and he had no problem keeping up. In fact, he often led and set the pace on the Trans Canada Highway at 100-110 kph (60-65 mph).
The weather was generally good with only showers from time to time, but lots of wind that made riding a little tough at times.
The west coast of Newfoundland is very rugged and much more mountanous that I thought. Not the Rocky Mountains of course, but pretty decent flat tabletop mountains.
Now, I have to learn how to do a ride report with pics
Here we go the link to the photos - Newfoundland
