Yesterday morning I went out to get a photo for this months comp. We had a lost baby sitting on our side gate but he stayed seated and had a ride on the gate as I got my bike out. He hung about all day and when it was getting dark I gently got hold of him and put him into our laundry room. The ring on his leg ID'd him to the local pigeon club so a quick Google search and an email with his individual number and our phone number was sent off. First thing this morning we get a call from the owner and 5 min later he was at our place to collect his slightly hawk damaged and traumatized bird. He was a real nice bloke from two streets away and happily answered all of our questions about racing pigeons. We've been invited over to check out his setup, I think the club is on a recruiting drive.
Happy ending!

Good on you.

We used to have a bunch of them at the plant, well I guess they still have a bunch of them out there but very few were returned to their owners. Seems they fell in with a rough gang and took up a life on the seedy side and rival gangs were better armed that they were.

Probably a world wide thing but in this area we are seeing many white pigeons in town and our parks. The reason is the fashion to release white doves at weddings, they join up with Hemi's rough gang and the local population is becoming whiter.

Well done Kevin nice save. We seems to have someone that keeps them around my place as I see them flying around during the day doing their training flights. Had one stop off at my pool over the weekend while I was swimming he needed a drink :y2:
