Well my TV in the bedroom is giving up, it just switches off all the time and always seems to do it at that crucial point in what ever I am watching :y10: So I think I will need to go and look for a new one this weekend, I have the old LG 51cm at the moment so what should I be looking at?

I don't have a bedroom TV as that would be useless since I have the habit of falling asleep in front of a TV all the time as it is :y2:
If I was really comfortable in a bed I would never get to see anything :y13: :y16: :y15:
Hmmm, a recommendation is hard, but just about any name brand these days have little to choose between them.
I guess it comes down to price, space available for a TV and what's available in your local market.
I like Sony products and they have always served me well.
We have a large Sony picture-tube type in the living room that's 10 years old and working fine. Two years ago I bought a Sony flat-screen for my computer and media room and love it.

I also like Sony they make great stuff I believe that Samsung is now also one to look at
Agreed. Samsung is very good too.
Whenever I go near a TV display in a store and the various sets are on with the same program, there is practically nothing different between them. Lots of good choices now.
Competition is so stiff these days that it's rare to find a "lemon" brand.

I think you are ok if you stick to the well known brands. The thing is you also need a sound system as these new TV's sound really sucks on default

If you have one of those BOSE wave radio/CD players......you can set up an inexpensive TV sound system that sounds great. Just get a stereo cord with the correct plugs at each end and hook-up the audio out to the BOSE system.

ive just bought a tv for the other sitting room, its the 3rd one of this make i have and i found them very good .....TECHNICA !.
built in HD, FREEVIEW, and DVD player and a good price !
but i dont know if there sold anywhere else !

this could be just like an oil thread
we all have our favourites, and at the end of the day you get what you pay for,so dont buy a super cheapy.
Decide what you want re freeview, hdmi inputs and outputs etc, and make sure to compare apples with apples.

I like SONY for their longevity. However, I don't think they have the best picture. And with things being upgraded and changing so quickly, by the time you get one home from the place where you bought it, its outdated technology already!

I swapped from Sony to a Samsung LED and haven't missed the Sony one bit. For the bedroom, if I ever have to replace that one I'm going to go with the Samsung LED again. The only difference would be the mounting location, the next one goes on the ceiling.

On a side note, my son used to work for a moving company and the only time he ever heard his crew leader cussing was when they saw the house was furnished with Sony TV's. No other company made TV's that heavy and they hated them.
