Rafiki. I struck a turkey with it last summer. The color on the replacement side fairing didn’t match the original nose fairing and the colored inserts on the bags never did match. So I had the bike repainted one color. It will get re-painted again this fall because the first paint job didn’t turn out. Maybe this time we will try a two tone scheme.

To answer your question, I decided to call it an RT in an attempt to be clever. RT coming from Dodge for Road and Track. I have big plans for the Sprint to make it more suited for track duty. I have already upgraded the exhaust, air filter, fuel and ignition maps. I also want to upgrade the suspension. Either by upgrading the forks with cartridge emulators or replace them with fully adjustable ones and replace the rear shock with a Penske.

Now that I have the Tiger I can take the Sprint out of service while I try different forks. The current forks dive way too much and with out dampening, the bike is very unpredictable.

You already have three race type bike so I am not sure I understand wanting to have the heavy ST for racing ?why not buy a 1050 motor and put it in the old Daytona 955i?.Now that would be something :y115:

I like the St colour .What colours do you think you might go for ? Have you seen the 675 racing blue and silver? It looks good

I won’t be turning the Sprint into a race bike. I do how ever ride it pretty quick on the road. Not fast enough to get into trouble with the police but fast enough to have a little fun. The Sprint has NO dampening in the front and it dives really badly under braking, especially 2-up. Making corner entry very difficult, it will dive, dropping the front then as I feed the brake lever back out and lean the bike into the corner, the front will start to rise, uncontrolled. Giving me absolutely no feed back on how good the traction is under the front tire and giving me the sensation that the front is about to wash out. Causing me to enter the turns stupid slow. A Harley could follow me with out dragging hard parts…

In the rear, it only has rebound dampening, which is great to help control wallow at mid turn. But with out compression dampening the rear end “packsâ€. This is where the shock compresses and the rebound valveing doesn’t allow the shock to extend. With the ass end dropped, it gives the bike a very different turning radius and negative feel. The shock will eventually extend changing the turning radius as I go though a long sweeper.

Over all, the bike is great. But even at a slow pace the front dive under normal braking is excessive and this really tics me off.

My plan is not to turn the Sprint into something it is not. But instead create a bike that is very predictable during normal riding. This is important while carrying my wife on the back.
