As some of you may have figured out, I can’t stop myself from buying things with the name “Triumph†on the tank.

I hold in my hand a check from the bank for the purchase of a 2008 Tiger with ABS. We leave bright and early tomorrow to pick it up. Its about a 2.5 hour drive to this dealer. (Team Triumph of Wisconsin)

I sold my dirt bike and paid off my 06 Sprint. So I thought a bike with a nice up-right seating position and wide seat for long distance touring would be fun.

I really like the new Tiger. But it is HUGE! The seat height is only 1†higher than the Sprint, but when parked next to a Speed Triple… It just dwarfs the Speed Triple.

Last week end we rode down on our Sprint, and then took the Tiger for a test ride. This was a true test of the bikes comfort. My muscles and butt were already strained and tired. When I rode the Tiger I did not feel any muscles being strained other than the muscles between my shoulder blades as I held myself and my wife forward. The test bike did not have a back rest for the passenger so she was pulling on me in an effort not to fall off the back.

I am going to bring my camel pack hydration system with me tomorrow. I want to see if I can ride the Tiger all the way back home, the long way, with out stopping.

Here is a picture of a similar bike. I have not yet ordered the luggage for it. So ours won’t have the rails along the tail section.

The Tiger is the pick of the bunch.I own one and that says it all.I bet you that after time you will see no need for the Sprint :y115:Mine is in the best colour,White

Enjoy and ride safe.It is nice to hear that someone will ride for 2.5 hours to get a Triumph

Well done!

Your heading says you have a problem, what is it ?

Thanks gents. I am looking forward to picking it up. I didn’t get much sleep last night.

I am hoping to have a back rest fabricated for the Tiger. I don’t like having the giant tour pack on the bikes just so my wife doesn’t fall off. The tour packs are very heavy and mounted very high, messing up the bikes handling. I also wish they would have come up with a better exhaust, maybe undertail like the Sprint so I can use the bags and tour pack from the Sprint for the long overnight trips.

I still haven’t picked up the 1973 Bonneville I spoke of earlier. I used the money I had to pay off the Sprint instead. The Bonne isn’t going any where. I still plan on purchasing it.

My problem, I can't control myself when it comes to buying Triumphs

You don't have a problem.

YET.

Once you get past 20 or so (Triumphs), then you might think about moderating your appreciation.

I believe they sell taller windscreens, it makes a HUGE difference to have 2 more inches.

As far as taking "the long way home", you ought to take the route via the Mackinaw bridge, down through the Smokies, and back up through the Ozarks.

chilton to janesville is quite a ride. Good idea on the hydration pack as it is going to get very hot saturday. Team Triumph is my dealer too, that is where I got my speedy, my son got hus speedy and son inlaw got his America. Good poeple Darcy and Todd. Oh I can't forget Victor the faster Pastor. Drive safe and have fun on your trip to janesville.

Congrats on the new Tiger. By now, you have probably ridden it home and are probably still sitting there in awe of your new ride.
I still have an adiction to the Sprint, but still can't afford to get one, so I will continue to live my life, dreaming of a Sprint nestled beside my Thunderbird. I was kind of tickled to hear that Triumph's new cruiser will be called the Thunderbird. If it is anything near as much fun as riding my T-Bird, it will have to be a terrific ride. I am anxious to see some of the information on it as it becomes available.
Right now, the Tiger would be my second choice behind the Sprint. Best of luck with it.

Its home!

I have added a few more pictures to my album:

I didn’t ride non-stop home after picking up the bike. My wife and daughter followed me home and we stopped for lunch. BUT I did make remaining 2 hour ride home with out stopping. The seat is a bit firm and may get replaced with a gel seat after I decide on an exhaust, air filter and fuel map.

I have a bit over 200 miles on the clock now. The bike made good power from the word go. The shifting is a bit sloppy but I think by raising the shift lever to fit my posture will help.

I really like the bike. I look forward to when my wife and I start riding 2-up and touring on it.

The people at Team Triumph were great. I plan on returning again this year to visit. I really like walking into their store and seeing so much Triumph gear and bikes.

Rafiki. I struck a turkey with it last summer. The color on the replacement side fairing didn’t match the original nose fairing and the colored inserts on the bags never did match. So I had the bike repainted one color. It will get re-painted again this fall because the first paint job didn’t turn out. Maybe this time we will try a two tone scheme.

To answer your question, I decided to call it an RT in an attempt to be clever. RT coming from Dodge for Road and Track. I have big plans for the Sprint to make it more suited for track duty. I have already upgraded the exhaust, air filter, fuel and ignition maps. I also want to upgrade the suspension. Either by upgrading the forks with cartridge emulators or replace them with fully adjustable ones and replace the rear shock with a Penske.

Now that I have the Tiger I can take the Sprint out of service while I try different forks. The current forks dive way too much and with out dampening, the bike is very unpredictable.
