Well.....hardly summer - it's hardly even spring, but at least it was sunny and 7C - even with a brisk cool wind off the cold North Atlantic. Even so, I decided it was time to get some bikes out of the basement.
I put the battery back in the T100, poured in a can of gas, hit the starter and she fired immediately. The bike was inside where it's warm and dry so it usually starts immediately. It's when she sits out in the garage that she's often hard to start.
The same procedure with the H***a which was next. It's fuel injected and always starts with no fuss under any conditions.
Both are out in my garage ready to go whenever I am. All I need is some decent riding weather
Our vintage bike club has been a thorn in the side of three different provincial governements for over eight years trying to get antique vehicle status for our antique/classic bikes. Antique/classic cars over 30 years old have had that status for years and we were sick of being treated unfairly.
Well, they finally broke down and agreed to a special licence plate and registration fee for antique motorcycles. That was in December with a "promise" of having things in place by the end of April. We're still waiting, but we now know that the senior civil servants that administer these things are finally on our side after a face-to-face meeting.
In the meantime I'm not going to register my old bikes for a while yet to see what develops.

Good for you, Rocky. That is great news. You are now ready to ride.

In Florida we have the antique license plates for both cages and motorcycles. Here you can put on an old license plate from the year the bike or cage was made and use it if you wish.

That's very cool about the Florida plates.
A few of our vintage club members have plates from the old days they would like to use too, but our governments are too "up tight" up here to allow something so liberal CRY :y15:

Great to hear you all up and ready to go Rocky. What does it actually mean to owner to get antique vehicle status, is it cheaper or just a cool tag that you will now be allowed to use

That's tooo funny BGRIN
Oh well, at least you caught me with some clothes on :y15:
Antique status for motorcycles will give us a special licence plate and an annual registration fee of less than half what we're paying now.
We should also be free of an annual vehicle inspection since they are not used for daily transportation.
The next step (we hope) is for the insurance industry to give us a break on these low mileage and little used (mainly Sunday riders) machines. But that may be a long time in coming. The rates are already quite reasonable so I'm not complaining about that too much.

There are loads of antiques in Florida.

Oh wait...you mean vehicles, not drivers? :)

Rocky, antique cages get that same break on the cost of registration (tag). In Florida, motorcycles don't get a discounted tag. However, motorcycle tags are not as expensive as cage tags in the first place. We don't have state inspections, so there is no cost there.

Glad you are geting out and about, now waiting on all the photos from the Great White North. :y2:

In Texas you can do two different tags, well actually three different tags on your classic/antique vehicles.
1. You can run the current tag system with no limits on what you can do with the vehicle.
2. You can run the plate from the build year of your vehicle with no limits on what you can do with the vehicle. This cost the same as the current tag system.
3. You can run antique vehicle tags at a reduced cost with no annual safety inspection sticker but you are limited to using the vehicle in parades, club functions or tuning rides. I know a few that do mega-mile tuning runs, they just have to be sure and log the the ride and if they are stopped they had better have the log up to date with the starting mileage reading for the ride. The vehicle can also be taken in for repairs and some of the repair shops are 100's of miles away or may be located in a cafe parking lot in a distant town, :y2:
