Love my R3GT but fed up with Triumph service support. I am unable to install dresser bars on my wife's Speedmaster, the design is stupid. I can't find any videos online and Triumph's instructions are useless. The shop wants $340 to install and the shop is 85 miles away in Las Vegas. The service manager is a jerk. Rumor is a shop 35 miles away is picking up Triumph. If they are not open soon I am selling my R3GT and going back to Harley, a bike easy to work on, parts are in stock and a shop is 35 miles away.

Well with the closet dealer now more than 800 kilometer = 497.096 953 79 mile away I would have no choice but to buy a Honda if I did get a new bike.

I must however admit that there are still a good few Triumph models I would still love to own right now.

I won’t be buying any new ones , too old . Besides for me Triumph is the only one to have and here’s why . When some one
says Oh , YOU !! (you stupid old bugger) Own a motorcycle ?? Big Pause ….. A Harley Davidson ??
No.
Oh I thought they were the best ?
No , I have a Triumph .
I didn’t know they made them anymore . (Or even , I never heard of triumph motorcycles )
It’s an educational thing ….

Dang I wish you lived close by, I’d help you figure out the bar install. Perhaps some pictures of the issue would have been helpful.
Agree with others on old, it’s simpler for me to address and I don’t care to deal with dealer shops. Had a bad experience with my MINI, it had a long warranty, but as the warranty period was getting close to ending they started to be more careless with my car. Undoubtedly started to have some butterfingers newbie work on it. I started working on it and just ignored that it still had a year of warranty left. I was much happier with the work.

Good time to retell this story…

I bought from Tobacco Road Harley in Raleigh, NC. At the time they also had a Triumph franchise. Worst, most unethical dealership you’ll ever encounter. Triumph fired them for their flagrant scumbaggery and customer non-service just before I showed up. They were just trying to get rid of inventory at that point. Again, I’ve mentioned this in here before.

Salesmen there are carney-level scammers and the service dept are mostly fat spiteful neckbeards that have an ax to grind with the public. They displayed a particular disdain toward me because I was one of the two last Triumph customers after they’d been sh-tcanned by Triumph Corporate, both Speed Twin buyers. Sales tried to charge the other guy full price until I saw the opportunity to show him that the bike had 90 miles on it, basically making it a demo model. So he took Sales back to the negotiating table. They were visibly irritated at me, which at that point I was basking in their anger. The ink had dried on my sales contract and the salesman chose then to announce “We are no longer servicing Triumph.” I wound up having 2 warranty issues and I was sh-t out of luck. I had to go to another dealer 50-60 miles away who weren’t much better.

The last 3 years have been an ongoing quest for a good Triumph outfit. I don’t hold it against the bikes or Triumph. I hold it against these American outfits who don’t give a toss. I’ve stopped into a couple foreign dealerships the last year or so and the vibe seemed genuinely more professional.

For what you want done I am sure that you could find any other bike shop that would do this for you. I mean I now take my Triumph to the Yamaha dealer to have work done since we don't have a Triumph dealer in town.
Agree, I wouldn’t think dresser bars are something that only a dealer could install I would go see a few local shops and ask.

I bet a Harley mechanic could install them.

Funny story- I took my Speed Twin to a local custom Harley shop out of desperation for exhaust work. Cool guy. Took like 2 days which was nice but he certainly didn’t do me any favors on price. I didn’t care. He came highly recommended by a buddy. I wanted it done PERFECTLY.

So he calls me to come get it. As I thanked him and go to start the bike he says…

“No problem. Don’t bring that thing back in here again.”

I’ve seen that video along with a few others, and on the speedmaster you have to remove the radiator. One of the mechanics down there in Las Vegas finally confirmed that for me.
Well a bit more work, but not the end of the world. LoL. That’s usually the problem, the more complex the vehicle, the more things need to come off. That’s the same thing that happens with cars that are tightly engineered. Just about anything I do on my MINI half the front end needs to come off. In the end, I would just start disassembling and get it done. You do learn a lot by doing it yourself. It is indeed frustrating to sometimes have to do a lot of work to install something simple, but on the bright side, once done you’ll be a lot happier even if you curse through the process.
