We had a massive storm here on Friday with 120 mph winds , the estate has 650 acres of forest and ancient woodlands .
Be lucky if there is 50 acres left tho hole lot is flat, and took every power line wth them so have had no power for a week now !
I’m living in the caravan on the yard and if that’s not bad enough two trees came down and flattened my garage.

120 mph winds? What do you Scots call that type of storm?

Yes, it is devastating to have all those trees taken down, especially the old-growth sections. Your home is recoverable? How about the contents of the garage?

I'm glad you and your family are OK.

Was this the first winter storm, Arwen? I’m not familiar with the nature of the winter storms y’all get. It’s not a cyclone type? Our hurricane season just ended, we were lucky in my area. The severity of storms this side have increased in recent years. Is it the same there? Glad to hear your safe though. Everything else can mostly be fixed, sad about old growth trees. They won’t be fixed in our life time. Hope the rest of your winter storm season is uneventful.

Sorry to hear about this Shane . Looks like this climate change deal is getting serious .
Has been my though in recent years as well. Storms that hit are likely to be stronger and more frequent. It's my understanding that whatever we, as collectively do, it will be 20 years before any sign of improvement would appear. The earth is a big slow ship, hard to turn.

Thanks all !
Yes we have managed to get through it with no loss of life here , there’s 16 houses on the estate and it’s miracle that none were hit by trees.
I’ve spent the whole week cutting access through the estate roads so people can get out and the power companies can get in to repair power lines.
It’s hard work made harder by strong winds and driving snow and ice .
Luckily my shed has a second floor so it didn’t damage the groung floor or the bike .
