When I started the thread "Watch out for Sandy" I was really thinking, " Oh well, it's late in the hurricane season so Sandy will probably peter out and fade away to the east like the last couple of storms."
Little did I know that Sandy may possibly be the storm of the century and would do such devestating damage - and it's still doing damage and disrupting lives. Two lives have been lost in central Canada. It's the storm that won't go away!!!
The tentacles of Sandy are still slapping us in the face here on the coast with intermitent wind gusts and heavy rain showers lasting into Saturday by the looks of it. But at least no damage is being done and no serious flooding has been reported - just minor localized flooding.
Halloween night was dismal with only about a dozen kids showing up at my door. Normally we get 50- 60 kids.
Power crews from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are already in New England to help with the recovery. About 100 men are there and can be spared since Sandy doesn't pose any real threat to us now.
Building materials will also be flowing south in short order.
The Americans are the first to help whenever we have any similar problems so we're only too happy to help them too. It's what good neighbors do.
