Hurricane Ophilia is in a northeast track up the Atlantic coast of North America, but is expected to stay well offshore and bring us only some heavy rain and wind on Sunday.
There might be some local flooding, but no real damage is expected from the wind.
There is also a chance the storm may move further out to sea and lessen the impact.
It was eight years ago last week that Hurricane Juan smashed into us and you can still see the damage from that storm in some places around the province.

We have not even had one close to us this year - so far. It looks like Philippe is going to follow the same track as Ophillia. I hope you get no damage.

Is that why the weather has been so dismal the last couple days?

It's only 46f this morning and raining.

I had a ride planned with some friends, but no one cares to brave the wet AND the cold both.

Wet is one thing; cold is one thing, but wet and cold is a terrible combo on a bike.
I don't blame you for staying home where it's warm and dry.
BTW, it's 19C (66F) up here in the great white north - well, not so white at the moment :y2:

AJ, I think the cool dismal weather is related to a cold front and unrelated to Ophelia. It will be in 50's here in the morning and warming up to the upper 70's. Up in the Lake City area, it will be in the mid 40's tomorrow and Monday mornings.

I'm pleased to report that Ophilia was more or less a non-event. She stayed well offshore and the weekend was nothing more than a usual wet weekend for us.
The storm center is east of us now and may clip the eastern tip of Newfoundland on the way by and then be gone.
