Yes the fuel is expensive. Mine uses 10 US gallons per 24 hours (38 liters). But when you consider the cost of replacing the food in the freezer and refrigerator and the convenience of TV, computer, lights, and in my case running water (I have my own well), the cost is worth it.

Well so far our rolling blackout only last a few hours not enough time to do any damage to the food in the freezer but just long enough to really get to you not having the convenience at hand. I actual looked at solar and wind power at one time but to do my house would cost more than I originally paid for it :y7:

As an aside to this thread as it been going re generators, power, etc., I'll relate something I find funny/odd/strange.
I've lived in this house for almost 49 years. It's one of the older homes in the city and is coming up on 100 years-old.
Back in those days they were build solidly with rough-cut timbers and will probably be here in another hundred years.
8-9 years ago my insurance company insisted that the house be totally rewired and brought up to modern code - or they would cancel my insurance.
This was something we had been considering anyway, but I didn't like the gun-to-the-head attitude. I had the work done and got a new insurance company.
One of the mods was to the bathroom light switch. It was inside and could be reached if you were standing in the bathtub. The switch was moved outside and for a couple of years we still reached inside for the switch.
Here it is 8-9 years later and this AM I reached inside for the switch :y2:
I guess some subconcious habits never die CRY :y15:
