Houston celebrated it's 175th anniversary of the founding of the city this weekend and what a weekend to do it, we tied the all time high in Houston on Saturday, 109 DegF.

1. 86 streets are named after men who were killed in WWl
2. Stella Link in not named after a person. In fact the street paralleled a railroad than ran from Bellaire to Stella. You could say it was a link to Stella
3. Generally, downtown Houston streets running north and south are called streets while those running west and east are avenues. Hence, Texas Avenue and San Jacinto Street
4. T.C. Jester is named after a Heights pastor
5. Reliant Stadium has a seating capacity of 71,500
6. The name Denver Harbor is a combination of the communities of Denver and Harbor. The neighborhood was laid out in 1913 as four subdivisions, Denver, Harbor, Harbordale and Liberty Heights. The first two names were merged to give Denver Harbor its name

Opposing teams hated the scoreboard. The scoreboard went thru the sequence for each home run hit by an Astros player and once for each RBI on the home run. I got to see it light up for a Grand Slam, it seemed like it would never end.
