For the past two weeks I've been staying at my daughter's house outside of town caring for her pets while they're away on a trip.
They have satellite TV and while I was scrolling through the hundreds of channels available I came upon "Silver Screen Classics" - old American and British movies from decades ago - mostly in black and white, but some in colour.
As I scanned through the schedule I found Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy movies from the 1935 - 1940 era. The days here are a bit long so I've been watching a couple of these old movies every day.
It takes me back to when I was a kid in the Forties and grew up on the old western movies and the cowboy heroes of the day.
Back in those days we would only get to town once a month and the treat was to see a Roy Rogers or Gene Autry movie.
Comic books were only 10 cents so I was also allowed to buy the latest issue of either a Roy or Gene comic.
Life was pretty simple back then.
