Long time no see, but I'm back! Lets just say that life got in the way these long months I've not been active here. Now, on to my question.....

1972 Trident, running but just about every gasket surface is leaking like the Exxon Valdez! Ordered a complete gasket set. The gaskets seem on the thin side to me. (I'm so used to working on Harley's. I know, don't hold it against me!) When rebuilding, do any of you use some kind of gasket sealer? Some sort of non hardening Permetex or silicone sealant on the gasket surfaces?

I'm venturing into uncharted territory for me here, so any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Before resorting to using sealant, you need to remove all the covers and carefully clean and dress all the gasket sealing surfaces, then re-install using all new high quality gaskets. Tighten down all hardware VERY carefully. I know, it's a chore, but worth it.

If they are still leaking, re-install using a very thin smear of non-hardening gasket sealer on both mating faces, and allow it to set before running the engine.

I did replace the gaskets on the front rocker box about a month ago, and still had some seeping. I made sure the surfaces were clean. Thanks for the tip Paul!
